The Broadleaf Forest

       Debon Thompson                                                                           2/10/14
      Environmental   Science                                                                  Ms.Tuorto
                                                      Temperate Broadleaf forest
Flora and Fauna:
The broadleaf forest has different types of plants and animals like redbud, huckleberries, azaleas, mountain laurel, dogwood, sourwood, and rhododendron and timber wolves, hummingbirds, white tailed deer’s, and mountain lions

Climate (temperature, precipitation):
·

The climates in the broadleaf forest are warmer continental and humid in subtropical in Europe and there are 6 months of growing season
·        The temperatures in broadleaf forest are non growing season it is due to temperature induced by droughts during the cold winters
·       The precipitation of the broadleaf forest is 20 to 60 inches and it is distributes evenly throughout a year

Physical characteristic
The physical characteristic of the broadleaf forest are the sandy deserts, Pine Barrens, pinewoods, Atlantic coastal plain, bogs, pine savannahs, and swamps

Environment importance:
·         The environment importance of the broadleaf forest is that in Europe there is a widespread disappearnce of the oak trees, beeches, and elms dominate. Most of the forest were cleared for agriculture, and there are some surviving royal hunting preserves
·         The environment importance of the broadleaf forest is that fossil records and intensive agriculture has caused the region to be cleared of natural vegetation. In Japan they have a artificial forest but In the mountains of Korea the forest is more or less intact and fall foliage is reminiscent of new England
·         In the broadleaf forest of eastern North America people preserved world’s greatest diversity of flora and fauna. The great smoky mountains have been designated a world biosphere reserve and the reason why the biome is important to the earth is because it is the last surviving region of nature and it has many plants and animals in there living.

  1. I can tell you did a lot of research, but it is very important that you understand the research and write about it in language that is all your own - language that others can understand, too. If your audience doesn't know anything about a biome, they may not understand terms like "substrate" and "extinction during the Pleistocene." It's also important to be sure to cite sources if you quote them, to avoid inadvertently plagiarizing. You chose beautiful, very representative photographs, and highlighted some of the most typical species of the biome. In the Environmental Importance section, you explained how some of the biome has been destroyed but not much about why the biome is important to the Earth. Please fix that.
