Great Pacific Garbage Patch
The Great Pacific Garbage Patch also known as the Pacific Trash Vortex is a large area that has a huge plastic concentration, It exists because of all the trash that comes off land and goes into the water and is drawn to this area. The current pulls all the trash in a circular motion and all the trash settles in the middle of it, The trash doesn't stay solid but instead is broken down and made into particles of debris that isn't visible to the naked eye. This huge amount of pollution isn't just bad for us but also kills water life including any animals in or around the area. On top of that any fish caught around the area is more than likely contaminated due to all the pollution and can't be used as food. Cruise ships help to spread trash by adding to it and dragging more trash into the garbage patch. It is almost impossible to clean up the patch once it has become particle debris because particles are a lot harder to clean up than actually trash. We need to take more care with solid trash otherwise we end up with a huge problem that can't be solved easily.
